Have you heard about this amazing find? A guy with a metal detector found what’s now being called, “is perhaps the most important collection of Anglo-Saxon objects found in England.”

Photo is reprinted under a cc license, and is a sword hilt. In a radio piece yesterday on NPR, they explained that sword hilts were taken as trophies.
