Calls for Entry and Contest Deadlines are Looming!
On Metal Clay Gallery, someone asked:
Is there one place, here on the list or elsewhere where there is a list
for calls for entries for Metal Clay work or Jewelry?
I answered: No, not really. And gave some specific suggestions of where to find that information.
Here’s an expanded version of my post, below. And I’ve added a category: Calls for Entry and Contests, and I’ll begin posting contests and Calls for Entires (COE) here.
If you sign up for SNAGnet, the email list of the Society of North American Goldsmiths, you will get a lot of announcements for COEs, but not everything.
The catalog sponsored contests do not seem to show up on SNAGnet or the like, but many jewelry bloggers post them, so if you use an RSS reader such as Google Reader and “subscribe,” to a jewelry blog that usually posts them, then you will see the announcements there (and now here).
Another way would be to subscribe to the email list of the companies known to have contests, such as Fire Mountain Gems and Rings ‘n Things, then you’ll get the notice.
Here are some links to get you started in finding things to enter:
Society of North American Goldsmiths
LARK Books
Rings ‘n Things
Fire Mountain Gems
Rio Grande’s Saul Bell Award
Women’s Jewelry Association
Calls for Entry.org
Art Calendar Magazine
PMC Guild
Art Clay Society

Hi Elaine,
Thanks for putting this list together. I’d like to point out that I too thought that there should be a place that has all the dates of interest to Metal Caly artists, so I have included them in The Art and Design of Metal Clay Jewelry Calendar 2008. I will be updating the list for 2009 and each year after.

By the way… I’m taking submissions for the 2009 calendar the deadlines is Aug. 15th. Find details at the link above.
Keep up the great job.

Hi, Elaine,
This is a really good service. Many thanks; I’ll make sure we mention it on the Rings & Things metal clay discussion forum! (http://www.rings-things.com/cgi-bin/forum/ikonboard.cgi?act=SC;c=3)
