One method is the “one time use” number, a special “credit card number” created for you by your credit card company. This service is available to those who have cards from Discover, Citi or Bank of America.
If you don’t have a card from one of those companies, you can get a low limit credit card specifically using on line or even a reloadable Visa or American Express gift card. Either of those methods limit or liability and reduce the hassle if there is a problem — you don’t have to cancel the primary card you use.
